چکیده

Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most frequently encountered problem in neonates. Hence, serum bilirubin is the most commonly ordered laboratory investigation in the nursery. Sampling of newborns is not only a painful procedure but also occasionally associated with severe sepsis(l). Yamanuchi et al. first described a noninvasive device, the jaundicemeter to estimate the serum bilirubin transcutane-

Evaluation of transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm infants of gestational age 32-34 weeks.

AIMS The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubinometry using the Minolta Air-Shields JM-103 device in preterm newborns of gestational age 32-34 weeks, and to identify the most appropriate measurement site. METHODS Transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements were performed over forehead, sternum and abdomen, if total serum bilirubin (TSB) had to b...

Application of transcutaneous bilirubinometry for screening of neonates with significant hyperbilirubinemia in the city of Kerman

In order to screen for neonatal significant hyperbilirubinemia,a propective cross sectional study was carried out on 343 full-term neonates taken to investigator in Kerman between October 1995 and july 1996.there was a linear correlation between serum bilirubin and transcutaneous bilirubinometri (r=0.85,standard error=0.004).sensitivity and specificity of this method were 95% and 84% respective...

A comparison of transcutaneous bilirubinometers: SpectRx BiliCheck versus Minolta AirShields.

BACKGROUND Two devices are available for making transcutaneous estimates of serum bilirubin (SBR): the Minolta AirShields JM102 and the new SpectRx BiliCheck. OBJECTIVES (a) To measure how well the readings produced by these devices agree with SBR measured in the laboratory; (b) to estimate for each device, the proportion of infants with clinical jaundice who would require blood sampling if t...

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm neonates.

This prospective study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm newborns less than 32 weeks of gestation. Serum bilirubin values measured by direct spectrophotometry were considered as standard, the range was 2.2-12.5 mg/dL. 32 jaundiced infants of less than 32 weeks of gestation without phototherapy, including 10 ELBW neonates, were enrolled. Close co...
